So this weekend I decided to do a banana homemade conditioner with honey banana and coconut oil. It was a great conditioner last time, and my hair was coming from two weeks of being straightened with no washes in between. (ugh!) I let it sit on for a while... couple of hours under a hot towel and baggie, and then rinsed it out but. the problem was when I went to detangle.
Dun dun dunnnnnn!
The first time I did this it was so great in my hair felt so good I was not as precise with my measurements of the banana. I did not use a blender for my for my mix this time either. Big mistake! There was so much banana left in my hair that I could not get out!! I had to wait for my hair to air dry and try to pick it out. This did not go as well as I thought it would. I wound up picking at my hair im this one spot...that poor spot was soooo dry and crazy when I was done. I will never put banana in my hair again. 2 days later I had to cowash again!! You will be happy to know I am finally banana free.
Meanwhile the saving grace of this entire ordeal was a new product that I tried. This new product is called shea moisture! (pictured below)

I used the shampoo and the balancing conditioner and my hair is so awesome!! It was moisturized...it was defined...there were no frizzies, (im the spots that I wasnt torturing for banana intel) barely any tangles... I think I have finally found by accident ( because I wasn't looking I was just getting a product to use at my mom's house because she doesn't have any silicone free/sulfate free products and I didn't want to go all the way home to rinse out the banana! ) my wash n go product!
Drawback: the Shea Moisture product is a little pricey. Each product was about 12 dollars and not very much is in the bottles. Maybe 8-12 oz. I will look when i get a chance.
I used it again tonight after a wash with my Tresseme naturals just to get the rest of the banana out of my hair. I used it on my twist n curl and I can already tell that it's going to be a really nice turn out. My hair was very supple soft and very very smooth! Love this stuff!
Lessons
Personally i will be using avocado from now on..lol...but if you must..blend it well!! Into a liquid if you can, unless you want to know what 3 day old banana looks like stuck in your hair. Smh.
